Navi Mumbai: He was the last hope for Mumbai Indians. And, while he batted, they seemed to have a glimmer of hope. But in the end even Kieron Pollard's cameo of 27 off 10 balls was not enough to land Mumbai their maiden IPL title.
The West Indian accepted his team's fate after the game and gave credit to Chennai Super Kings for being the better side on the day.
"I just back myself to see what I can do," said Pollard. "Unfortunately it didn't come off, [just] a couple of sixes came off. But that's the way it goes, at the end of the day it is a game of cricket [and] somebody has to win, somebody has to lose. Congratulations to Chennai, they played better cricket on the night,'' he added.
The burly right-hander believes his team failed to fire as a unit when it came to the crunch.
